Dolce & Gabbana Perfumes - Review of the Light Blue Gift Set

Lori Leidig
Spring is here and upon its heals comes thoughts of weddings and bridal showers. Gag gifts are always fun, but why not splurge on a perfume gift set instead? Face it, every female likes to have pampering products to relax in the tub with and feel beautiful. Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue perfume gift set is perfect.

I have collected a ton of perfumes over the last 2 years... and yet I keep buying more. I like the looks of the bottles sitting on my dresser, aiiight? Seriously. Most of my perfume purchases have been because I liked the look of the bottles. When on a recent ferry voyage, I found this Light Blue perfume gift set by Dolce & Gabbana in the duty free shop and had to have it. I didn't even bother to smell it before shelling out the 60-some odd Euros. It turned out to be a pretty good purchase.

This perfume gift set came in a lovely blue box, which I sadly did not keep. In the box was: 1.7 oz Eau De Toilette Spray + 1.7 oz Body Gel + 1.7 oz Shower Gel.

The bottle is a cool iced glass topped by a beautiful light blue cap, with a mirrored silver band in between the two. the name Dolce & Gabbana is prominently displayed across the face of the bottle. niiiiice.

The first thing I did was try the perfume spray. I was surprised to find that I liked the scent. Dolce & Gabbana says the scent is: "A blend of flowers and fruity notes: apple, bluebells, jasmine, bamboo and white rose. With subtle hints of cedarwood, amber and musk."

What I got initially was a bit of a fruity musk. I guess that does fit in with their own description. I don't sense any apple fragrance here, but different body chemistries will evoke different elements. After reading the description, I closed my eyes again and smelled. Yeah. I could smell the cedarwood and jasmine now. Rose? Maybe just a hint. I have yet to figure out what amber is even suppose to smell like though. I keep seeing it described in various perfumes I own, but isn't amber a rock? I mean I have a cute little hedgehog from Riga made of amber, and it has no smell at all. Maybe I'm just dense. At any rate, I do like the Light Blue perfume. I still prefer my Dolce Vita by Dior, but this Light Blue gets used more than any of my other perfumes now.

The shower gel was the next to be tried. I have to tell you, I was duly impressed by this. It is a thick gel that lathers marvelously. I don't even have to use shaving cream on my legs when I am using the Dolce & Gabbana shower gel because it is just so creamy. And scent! Hot damn, ladies, this is not just a bare waft of scent here. Oh no. this full-on scent. From a shower gel. Wow. Even better, the scent stays on your skin after you've rinsed off and gotten dressed. If you put the lotion on after your shower, you don't even need to use the perfume spray at all. the Light blue scent will stay with you all day. In fact, at first I thought the scent of the gel and lotion combo was almost too strong.

The lotion when used alone also has a nice lasting fragrance. It is of course stronger and lasts longer when combined with the shower gel, but it does admirably well by itself also. As far as hydration goes, this is not going to be your main skin lotion. Make no mistake. but it is satisfactory for use once in awhile in conjunction with your regular Shea and Cocoa Butter body butters as far as keeping your skin nice and smooth. I mean the Light Blue lotion is not going to replace any of your other skin care products, but it is nice for when you are going out on the town.

For the price, you really cannot beat Dolce & Gabbana's gift set. It is a wonderful light and airy scent, with sexy undertones; the bath gel is fabulous and takes only a drop to do your whole body so will last quite some time; and the lotion is just the icing on the cake. Hell, while your at it, buy yourself a set too.

Great article. Thanks for the lesson on perfumes. My collection is very limited. So it is nice to hear what others think about many different brands, if and when I decide to add to my collection.

You choose perfume the way I choose wine. And it may not be the most intellectual process but I swear it works.

You have opened a new vista for me with respect to gifts. Excepting only the most expensive, I have never trusted my judgment in what to buy. I shall now use yours.
