Dollar General - Great Prices for Anyone!

Dollar General is a very popular store with their low prices on items you can find everywhere else for more. I tend to get what I can here before having to brace the mob at Wal-Mart. I avoid that at all costs if possible.

The DG here in Mountain Home is fairly decent sized establishment. I remember going here some odd 8 years or so ago and it didn't seem as big or clean, but maybe cause I wasn't paying much attention. Being a mom can do the wonders for the senses. It is now fairly large and most of the time as clean as it can be. You can tell they attempt to put too much on the shelves at times, so it's not so much organized as messy. But I can overlook that with the prices on things.

Most of the items are decently priced although I've noticed some are close if not the same as the other stores. I can understand why milk would be high; being it's high no matter where you go. The hair products are around the same price, sure you can get the even cheaper ones but they don't have as great of quality if that's what you are more interested in. I don't mind spending the same amount only because I don't have to fight a mob to get in there and shop.

When you shop somewhere long enough you become accustomed to where everything is. Granted they are bound to rearrange at some point, but even then with this size of a store, it does not take long to get the layout down again.

So far the employees seem very pleasant. While some may be 'too' pleasant in the fact that they sit and chat with customers while the rest of us are waiting in line, that is a lot better than them being non-social and rude.

Of course, we wouldn't have to worry about this problem so much if they had more people at the registers. I believe most of the time I go in there, there is only one register open and 5 people in line waiting. If you are like me and have a cart full of stuff, then the people behind you seem to get irritated on waiting so long. Which is not our fault, it's the fact there is only one register open.

Dollar General is a great place to get cheap toys. They may be just that, cheap, but you can't go wrong with spending a dollar on something even if it only lasts a month. I bought my daughter a baby doll that wets for five dollars and yes it looks kind of cheaply made, but I'm using it in hopes of potty training, and I know she won't play with it very much after a week or so. But I find it was worth it.

You can get great stocking stuffers here as well; lots of cheap little things that the kids would love as well as the adults. They have cheap dining ware and everything else for your kitchen, bathroom, or just for decoration.

I recommend this dollar store to our locals only because you can get in and out in no time and everything is decently priced for the most part. Check it out for yourself and decide whether it would work or not for you.

Great article. I use to work as a store manager for Dollar General, before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Almost three years later, I still shop at our local store every week.
