Dolly Parton Week Rescues American Idol's Kristy Lee Cook

Melissa Carole
Kristy Lee Cook has now had two good performances on American Idol. Country legend Dolly Parton guest appeared on American Idol this week and the contestants were challenged to take on songs by Parton. Cook followed up last week's awesome country performance of "Proud To Be An American" with the song "Coat Of Many Colors" by Dolly Parton. That makes two weeks in a roll that Cook had a stand out performance.

Kristy looked and sang well last night. Her blond ringlets were wore up and she had on a brown sundress with bare feet. Her eyes were shining as bright as her smile. Kristy made "Coat Of Many Colors" her own and delivered a strong, heartfelt performance. Even Dolly commented, while appearing on the popular FOX show "she really felt the Coat Of Many Colors."

Dolly Parton week could not have come soon enough for Kristy Cook. It was obvious that Cook was more comfortable and confident on stage last night and was better able to relate to Pardons style of down home country music. Kristy has established from the very beginning that she is a country singer and has fallen short in previous performances. Randy and Paula both liked Cooks performance while Simon pronounced it, "pleasant but forgetful."

Despite two great performances Cook is not the favorite in this year's American Idol competition. The other Cook is hot this year. Rocker David Cook appears to be a favorite among fans and Simon Cowell. Unfortunately for Cook there are more talented singers and every week can not be country music week. It is possible for Kristy to hold on one more week but she is going to have to really pick it up and wow the judges in order to stay in the competition. I anticipate seeing Ramiele Malubay leave the show after her lack luster performance while singing "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind" and Kristy Cook in the bottom three."
