Dom DeLuise Dies at Age 75

The world has lost another great actor. Dom DeLuise died on the 4^th of May at the age of 75. He left behind his wife, Carol Arthur and three sons, Michael, Peter, David. Dom DeLuise had been battling cancer, and was surrounded by family at the time of his death. He died in Santa Monica California.

Dom DeLuise was most well known for his roles in various Mel Brooks satires. From the flamboyant director in Blazing Saddles, to the mobster in Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Dom DeLuise showed his deep appreciation for comedy, and was a welcome addition to any comedy movie.

But Dom DeLuise was far more then just a funny man. Dom DeLuise also played far more serious roles throughout his career, including Fatso. Dom DeLuise's voice became a staple in children's movies, from American Tail to All Dogs Go To Heaven.

Born Dominic DeLuise in Brooklyn New York on August 1^st, 1933. Dom DeLuise was an avid chef, and shared his love of food through his cookbooks. His cookbooks can be found on his official website, which at the time of writing this article is down.

I will miss Dom DeLuise. While I didn't know him personally, Dom DeLuise was a constant throughout my life, first with the movies I watched as a child, then later as a fixture in some of my all time favorite films. Dom DeLuise had the most recognizable voice to me. My mother and I would play a game to see if we could point out Dom DeLuise, since he was in so much of the television and movies we would watch together. From American Tail, to Seaquest DSV, and later Blazing Saddles, History of the World Part 1 and Robin Hood: Men In Tights.

No matter what character or voice Dom DeLuise played, he always made me smile and laugh. Dom DeLuise had a gift for making people feel good in my opinion. My favorite characters of Dom DeLuise are Jeremy, the silly crow in Secret of NIMH, and Don Giovanni, the mobster in Robin Hood: Men In Tights. Dom DeLuise has been and will always be one of my favorite actors, and I am deeply saddened by his death.

Many will mourn Dom DeLuise, I believe. Through his work, Dom DeLuise brought a lot of joy into people's lives, and I'm sure he's touched many more the way Dom DeLuise has touched me.
