A submissive who is overweight may have trouble kneeling, performing tasks, and may also have trouble with various sexual positions due to a lack of flexibility. An overweight submissive may also be less inclined to don some of the fetish wear that some dominants enjoy. Still, many dominants hesitate to address the weight issue with their submissives.
In the world of dominance and submission where the dominant can be in control of so many things, some consider it irresponsible for a dominant not to address the issue of weight with a submissive. It is a submissive's job to please the dominant. It is the dominant's job to take care of the submissive's best interests so that the submissive will be better at serving, pleasing and obeying.
If it is a submissive's job to take care of oneself to be of better service to the dominant, what kind of message does it send when a submissive chooses not to do that? There is an implication that the submissive had rather be overeating and not exercising than doing what is required to be in good health for the dominant.
Even if a dominant is not bothered by a submissive's weight, there is always the health factor to consider. Being overweight is not good for anyone. It can lead to health problems such as Type 2 Diabetes and high blood pressure.
Should a submissive be offended if the dominant chooses to address the weight problem? Absolutely not. It is the job of the dominant to guide the submissive. As in any relationship, however...such guidance is best done in a loving, supportive manner.
A dominant who is ready to address a submissive's weight problem needs to keep several things in mind:
Overeating often comes from emotional hunger rather than physical hunger. In order to help a submissive deal with this, she may need therapy or a support group.
Depending on the submissive, a structured eating plan may be needed. Other submissives may work best with little structure.
Use rewards for success rather than punishment for failures. There will always be setbacks on the road to weight loss. Any lifestyle change is a process, and will not happen overnight.
Support your submissive by giving an exercise plan that can be enjoyed. Suit the plan for the person's individual taste. Perhaps you can even be of a support by exercising with your submissive.
Remember that ultimately a person must choose to lose weight for themselves and no one else. Make sure and point out the benefits of weight loss to your submissive.
