Dominance and Submission: Toys and Implements

Whips, Floggers, and Paddles

In a BDSM relationship, there are times of punishment or play that involve more than hands. Many Dominants have a plethora of toys or implements that are used to torture or tantalize their submissive. The implements used change depending upon the degree of intensity and the knowledge and practice of the Dominant. The pain threshold of the submissive also plays a part in this situation. The following are a few of the more popular implements used and the different types of pain and pleasure they can cause.

Paddle - This handy toy is a great alternative to hand spanking. It allows for a different feel texture when disciplining a submissive. Unlike a hand you cannot cup or straighten to give different sensations. However the paddle gives you a way to keep your hand from getting tired if you like to punish or pleasure for hours on end. The pain rating on a paddle can be different with how hard you swing but ultimately the dull thudding that the paddle gives will hurt but an experienced submissive that enjoys pain may not feel the punishment in this implement.

Flogger - A flogger can be long or short. Usually comes in leather however there have been ones I have seen made from rope as well. The flogger usually looks like a Cat O' Nine Tails however a little less frightening. The small floggers are wonderful for pleasant pain. The leather straps are not long enough to get enough wind to truly hurt or break the skin. Mostly the small floggers are good for small amounts of stingy pain and pleasure over more intimate parts. The larger and longer floggers however can be used for punishment. The pain is short and stinging which allows for long punishment sessions or pleasurable nights. The flogger is easy to control and can be used by most Dominants with a small amount of practice.

Whip - Everyone has seen this if even just watching Zorro. However the whip is a very specialized implement and should only be used by those Dominants that have practiced and learned how to use it without truly harming their submissive. A whip depending on its use could be used for shot bouts of severe punishment with a strong hand, or it can also be used slowly and more gently for a longer session. However whips will leave welts which mean the pain does not abate as soon as other less intensive implements. For someone who really wants this in their lifestyle there are training classes which I suggest you take so no one gets hurt, in a bad way.

BDSM is a lifestyle that many find their heart in however remember although these toys and implements sound exciting and fun, they need to be used by adults and only in a safe, sane, and consensual manner.
