Dominic Monaghan Unsurprised by 'Flashforward' Cancellation

Kyra Lennon
Star of cancelled ABC show "Flashforward", Dominic Monaghan has told SFX that he was not surprised by the demise of the show.

Monaghan, who played scientific genius Simon Campos, said, "The (cancellation) wasn't that much of a shock. I thought it would go on a little longer. There's a lot of stuff that went on with "FlashForward" that wasn't anything to do with the ratings. It was to do with (what was happening) inside the studio and... changes that were taking place."

In spite of Dominic Monaghan saying he wasn't surprised by the cancellation, he also confessed his disappointment, saying, "I just thought it was really well-written. I played a very sweet, cuddly, nice character in "Lost," I wanted to play a character who wasn't sympathetic. Not an easy character for an audience to like. It doesn't sound very nice, but I really liked doing the scene where I strangled a guy to death."

Dominic Monaghan was by no means the only person to be disappointed by the "Flashforward" cancellation , but he may be the first to cite internal ABC happenings as the reason behind it.

Fans of the show have spent much time appealing against the untimely ending of this show which had an amazing concept, and are still fighting it four months on. The Save "Flashforward" facebook page has made plenty of effort in keeping the sci-fi/drama fresh in the minds of ABC by organising staged recreations of the global blackout all over the world, sending "Flashforward" gifts to the network bosses and encouraging the fans to keep on emailing the television company to let them know that it hasn't been forgotten.

Well reported. Give it 10 years or more and it will become one of those cult shows.

Always interested in why they cancel a show if it isn't the ratings then it would be great to know the reasons.

Possibly, but I think they are sticking with the hope of ABC reviving it :D

Is there still hope a different network will pick it up?
