Dominique Cyr has practically been skiing since he was a baby, and when the pressure is on what sport does he turn to? Try golf.

The Cry family is holding the Ski Benefit Golf Tournament on Sunday, August 5, at the Long Lake Country Club. Tee-off time is 8:30 am. To participate, the Cyr family is asking for $35/golfer or $105/team, and entries are limited to the first twenty-four teams. The tournament format will be a three person scramble. To register call the Long Lake Country Club (1.207.895.6957) or the Cyr family (1.207.868.2635).

Cyr, who is entering his senior year of high school, is turning into a world-class skier, and needs help covering travel expenses. This tournament is the Valley's chance to get involved. By spending a day at the golf course it will go along way towards helping the Cyr family raise the money they need.

Lisa Cyr, the mother of Dominique Cyr, noted, "Of course, as Dom's parents, we want to see him accomplish his goal of becoming a world class alpine racer, but it would also be great for the people in the St. John Valley and Aroostook County to see someone from a small town realize their dream. It would send the message that it doesn't matter where you come from, no dream is too large. If you work hard enough, anything is possible."

Golfers will also get a chance to win great prizes, such as cash and much more. The sponsors who helped make this possible are the Long Lake Country Club, PPJS Thriftway, Van Buren Service Center, The Ski Shop, Norstate Federal Credit Union, Bradley's Car Wash, Clukey's Auto Supply, The Power of Prevention, S. W. Collins, Knock on Wood, Daigle Oil Company, Lajoie Growers LLC, Borderview Rehabilitation & Living Center, Carrabassett Valley Academy, G. R. Logging, Advantage Gas, Golf Digest Magazine, Van Buren Tulsa, Hogan Tire Company, Jimmy Bacon Auto, Houlton Tire Company, Soderberg Construction, and many anonymous donors.

Lisa Cyr also wanted to mention that the list, which was assembled on July 19, is constantly growing. The family wishes to recognize all sponsors. Businesses still looking to sponsor Dominique Cyr may do so, and should act soon.

Dominique Cyr's father, Alan Cyr, gratefully said, "Whatever the size of donation we can get, it would be appreciated. It's definitely going to help."
