Domino's Pizza Beats Papa John's in Taste Tests Nationwide According to Company Claims

So How is the New Pizza?

Jay Braun
I managed a Domino's when I was in college over ten years ago. The pizza industry has changed quite a bit since that time. When I was there Domino's pizza was a private company then it became publicly owned company and traded on the stock exchange.

You have probably seen the various commercials that talk about trying the new pizza that Domino's is offering. As I mentioned I tried this today. Overall I personally was not that impressed. While I do not think it's the worst pizza around I don't think it's really much different than it was when I was managing a Domino's Pizza. I do not really see much of a difference at all with the cheese. I do think the sauce is a bit more flavorful than it used to be, but you have to be looking for it to notice that difference. The crust is about the same. Domino's has added some seasonings to the crust. These bring out some flavor, but you still have to deal with the cornmeal on the crust. They use this when they are making the ball of dough into a pizza. It is really not supposed to stick that much, but I found that it always does. One thing I prefer about Papa John's is that they only use half cornmeal and half flour. This alleviates this problem with the crust having too much cornmeal on it.

Domino's Pizza has improved, but only slightly in my opinion. I think the average person would not notice. The cheese is the main part of the pizza yet there appears no change with it. It was a decent meal, but I still think that the price you would pay for a large when it is not on sale is not worth it. I would get a pizza from your local pizza shop. It usually is much better as far as taste and price goes. Believe it or not if you check the calories they are usually lower on the Italian pizzeria style pizza because of how thin the crust is compared to other places like Domino's.

I don't agree with this. I think their new pizza is much better than it was before.

I've been wondering whether to try this. It's been a few years since I've had Domino's, and I usually ordered the thin crust.
