Don Gorske, for all his Big Macs and his nearly perfect record of eating one Big Mac a day, is a physically fit man. Don Gorske does suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder, which helps him maintain numbers, date and facts as well as maintain his obsession with Big Macs.
Gorske began his love affair with Big Macs on May 17, 1972, the day that Gorske got his first car. After Gorske ate his first Big Mac, he went on to eat at least one Big Mac nearly every single day since. The only day Don Gorske has never eaten a Big Mac was on the day his mother died.
Gorske has kept the receipt of every Big Mac he has ever bought inside of his car. McDonald's famous way of tracking the number of customers it has served gave Gorske the motivation to count how many Big Macs he has eaten over the years.
After the death of the father of his wife Mary, Don Gorske began to write a book about his love of Big Macs and his experiences. Gorske also writes about how he has attended sports games in every baseball and football stadium in both leagues, most notably cheering for his home baseball team, the Milwaukee Brewers. Gorske finances his various trips with his work as a prison guard, though he has only missed one day of work in 20 years.
Gorske has also been to every NASCAR track and is starting to visit college football stadiums. But in every sports stadium he visits, Gorske is sure to buy a Big Mac.
Gorske typed the book with one finger and double spaced between every word, as his wife Mary helped to edit it afterwards. "22,477 Big Macs" was started on January 4, 2006 and was published on May 2 of this year.
The book is only one part of Gorske's fame as "The Big Mac Guy" as he has also made appearances on Oprah, Jimmy Kimmel Live and in Super Size Me.
Gorske has self-published his book with AuthorHouse.

Post a CommentMr. gorske suffers from OCD: Obsesive Compulsion Disorder, which partialy drives him to eat 23,000 big macs. No offense to the guy, but its sad how he eats so many big macs! i guess OCD is a really serious disorder!
crazy. i'm not too fond of big macs, myself... it's the thousand island dressing all over it i think. but wow go figure. imagine keeping track of all that. i worked for a company that provided computer and management support to mcd's. their isps (in store processors) keep track of everything and automagically create the schedules and inventory. they even can tell with little error how many of each item they will sell on any particular day. They even figured out that when it rains they sell more chicken than beef.
I heard this on the radio early this morning before I'd even had breakfast - it made me feel ill to think about that many big macs!
I get fatigued halfway through eating a big mac.
