Don LaFontaine, Also Known as the King of Movie Trailers, Has Died

Don LaFontaine died on Monday from complications related to a collapsed lung. Many had heard the voice of Don LaFontaine but none had actually seen him until recently when he was in a Geico insurance commercial. LaFontaine had been nicknamed "King of the Movie Trailers" after he had been heard in thousands of radio and television commercials. LaFontaine has been survived by his wife, actress and singer Nita Whitaker, and three children, as reported by AHN.

LaFontiane died at the age of 68 and is best known by the famous catch phrase that he was often heard saying, "In a world..." and in the Geico commercial he was known as the announcer guy. LaFontaine was reported to have died at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and there has been no official report as to the cause of death as of now, as reported by 610 WTV.

A string of celebrity deaths have occurred over the past few months. Bernie Mac was only one of many celebrities who have died this year. Bernie Mac was only 50 at the time of death on August 9th. Bernie Mac was known as one of the last Kings of Comedy as he filled many homes and made many laugh. Bernie Mac was in a little stint after saying a few words at an Obama campaign and many have not forgotten this but they also have not forgotten how he would make them laugh.

Like Bernie Mac, Don LaFontaine will not be forgotten. We can all tell that LaFontaine's wife Nita Whitaker has been very proud of her husband and I truly hope that she and her family make it through this terrible time.

Just recently Dr. Dre's son died and this left many wondering who was next on the list of celebrities or well known people that would die. Dr. Dre's son wasn't the only one who had died; Dave Freeman who is the author of "100 Things to do Before You Die" had also died. The deaths of celebrities like LaFontaine and those listed bring us back to reality to realize that everyone dies and death is not prejudiced.
