Donald Trump Brings a New Golf Show to Television

Can Golf Survive After Tiger Woods?

What's going to happen to golf now that Tiger Woods, the game's sole superstar, has stepped away? Will golf fans desert the game? People in the golf world are worried, a fear brilliantly parodied on a recent Saturday Night Live sketch that showed the PGA Tour Commissioner drinking from a flask in his desk drawer. Can Donald Trump, of all people, save the game?

The Donald is betting that his new television series, "Donald J. Trump's Fabulous World of Golf," will be as fabulous as its title proclaims. The six-part show, which will debut April 26 at 9 pm on the Golf Channel, pits celebrities, professional golfers, and other athletes against each other on several of Trump's luxurious golf courses. Proceeds go to charity, and Trump himself will be the host.

Trump has called golf one of his "greatest passions." Will that passion be contagious enough to entice viewers to watch his show? Trump has had more than his share of both successes and flops. Where this post-Tiger golf show will end up is anyone's guess.

Trump, by the way, doesn't think that Tiger's troubles are permanent. He told Extra, "Tiger is going to be hotter than ever before - mark my words."

Donald and Tiger are still friends. The Scottish Sun reported that Trump asked Tiger to help him design his new golf resort. He's not asking for help with the golf course itself, though, but with the bedrooms. Ouch!

Meanwhile Ivana Trump, one of Donald's ex-wives, also weighed in, telling Life & Style that she thinks Tiger's wife Elin should take her time when deciding what to do next. Whether Elin stays with Tiger or ends the marriage, money won't be a problem. "Tiger will, I am sure, provide well for his wife and children," said Ivana. Ivana knows all about being well provided for, having snagged a reported $20 million when she divorced the Donald. "At no point," Ivana said, "do I think Elin's going to go broke. She just needs to listen to her heart."

Whether Elin stays or goes, whether Tiger plays again or not, whether Trump's new show is a hit or a flop, there is one thing you can be sure of - there is plenty more drama still to come.
