NBC News reports that Donald Trump has chosen not to fire Miss USA, Tara Conner.

Donald Trump is quoted as saying, "I've always been a believer in second chances, Tara is a good person. Tara is going to be given a second chance."

Conner has agreed to enter rehab as part of her terms for staying on as Miss USA.

Donald Trump was reported as saying "Until this morning, I didn't know which way it was going to go". He said he met her in his office and saw her "good heart". Donald Trump said that she "got caught up in the whirlwind that all know as New York."

Tara Connor, who is not yet 21 was tearful in a press conference as she said of Trump, "He's a very, very compassionate person, and I obviously learned that today. I plan on walking out of this being the best Miss USA you've ever seen. Thank you, you'll never know what this means to me. I'll never let you down."

Donald Trump was quoted as saying "If she makes the slightest mistake from here on, she will be replaced.

According to NBC News "Trump said that he believed Conner can be a good example for "Troubled people" - people who have "trouble with alcohol, trouble with life."."

Tara Connor, who just turned 21 Monday, had come under heavy criticism for frequenting bars and heavy drinking, even though she was underage.

People have accused Tara Connor of being a poor example of what is considered a role model.

Tara Connor, has been competing in pageants since the age of four. After winning the Miss USA title in April, she finished fourth in the Miss Universe Pageant in July.

If she had been dethroned, the First Runner Up would have taken the Miss USA Throne. The First Runner up is Miss California, Tamiko Nash.

I agree...I think underage drinking would definately be worth losing the title for.

Morality in this country is a thing of the past. Also, I am from California, so I would want Tamiko to take the crown, sorry.

I agree with Katie. It appears this is a moral compass of our society. What a shame.

Since Miss USA is supposed to be a role model, I don't see a role model in rehab any better than a role model being sloshed at a night club. Other Miss USAs have been dethroned for less.
