Donating Your Vehicle to Help a Dallas Charity

Donating a car, motor home, motorcycle or boat to a charity organization is not only an act of kindness but it can also help with your taxes. Dallas has many organizations that will accept your vehicle, running or not, but two organizations stand out: Texans Can! and Charity Motors.

Texans Can! Cars for Kids

The proceeds from the sale (or scrap) of your donated vehicle to Texans Can! go directly to help at-risk youth . . . kids who have dropped out from school and are leading a dead-end existence. Texans Can! has twelve facilities in Texas dedicated to providing an alternate education for these kids to get them back 'on track' and to helping their families improve their lives.

Texans Can! started out as a school to help juvenile offenders continue their education. Their program worked so well that they were able to branch out to help high-school dropouts and other kids in trouble. Texans Can! claims to have helped more than 30,000 students with more than half of them going on to college or trade schools after receiving their high school equivalency.

To Donate Your Vehicle

Either call "Cars For Kids" at their toll free number: 1-866-835-KIDS to schedule a time to deliver your vehicle or a time and place to have it picked up - it'll be picked-up free of charge by a licensed, bonded towing company.

Or use their online Car Donation Form and they will call you to verify your donation.

Either way, after your vehicle is donated it will be sold at their weekly auction and they will mail you a tax deduction form for the amount that your vehicle brought in at the auction.

Charity motors

Charity Motors special objective is helping underprivileged or needy families with their transportation needs and because of this charter, the donor of a vehicle may be able to get a larger tax write-off. When you arrange to donate your car the representative will be ale to tell you right away if you will be able to claim the fair market ("Blue Book") value for your car rather than the actual sales price at an auction.
