Donny Osmond Wins Season 9 Dancing with the Stars with Australian Partner Kym Johnson
Aussie Kym Johnson Trains Donny Osmond to Win Season 9 of Dancing with the Stars
More than 19,200,000 DWTS fans watched 1970's pop heart throb Donny Osmond win the Season 9 Dancing With the Stars. Singer Mya came in second, and surprisingly the third place winner was Kelly Osbourne, daughter of heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne.
It has been reported that Donny just wanted to do as well as his sister Maree did last season. He's more than done that!
Donny Osmond's career needs very little explanation. He was part of the highly successful Osmonds for many years and had further success with sister Maree as a recording star. He is still recording and performing and looks years younger than his 51 years.
Australian performer Kym Johnson's rise to fame in the USA
News that Donny Osmond has won Dancing With The Stars in the US is no surprise to many Australian fans of the show. Why? Because in 2005, his partner Kym Johnson trained the Season 2 DWTS Australian series winner Tom Williams who is now a multi-show TV presenter on Australia's Seven Network. She also notched up two second place rankings in the US show with N'Sync's Joey Fatone and gridiron star Warren Sapp.
Australian born Kym Johnson started learning dance at age 3, training in all aspects of the performing arts including, singing, ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics. At 13, she decided to concentrate on competitive ballroom dance. This led to her success as an Australian Ballroom Champion, after which she represented Australia in the World 10 Dance Championships for two years running. Kym then performed on the world tour of the modern ballroom stage show Burn the Floor. This led to a regular gig on the Australian series of Dancing with the Stars in Seasons 1, 2 and 3. She and partner, Tom Williams, nailed the top spot in Series 2.
Kym moved from Sydney to the US in 2006 and soon became a regular on DWTS. She has partnered many celebrities, including TV talk-show host Jerry Springer, billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team Mark Cuban and Las Vegas comedian Penn Jillette.
Other highlights of Kym's successful career include TV commercials, a raunchy photo-shoot for FHM Magazine, and dancing at Elton John's 50th birthday party. She also appeared in the Australian hit movie Strictly Ballroom which was directed by Baz Luhrmann.
Kym is set to make her Broadway debut this Winter in New York City. She will rejoin the cast of Burn the Floor to be presented at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) with her Dancing With The Stars cast mate Maksim Chmerkovskiy from Friday 27th November until January 10th 2010.
Kym's phenomenal success with her fitness DVD
Kym's fitness DVD - Dancing With The Stars: Cardio Dance - has become the highest selling US fitness DVD of all time. Another fitness DVD is scheduled for release in December 2009. She currently resides in Los Angeles and goes back to Sydney, Australia whenever time permits.

Terrific writeup! My parents love this show and were so happy to have Donny & Kym win. :)
I didn't realize Kim was from Australia - all the accents sound alike to me I guess. Nice article.
Nice report!
Good for the Donny Osmond team. He always did have great rhythm
Great reporting on this. Donnie has another credit to build on. I never thought he would win, although he has been dancing and singing since he was a baby.
