Previously, mental diseases, including homosexuality, were considered reasons to keep people out of the services. Gay activists successfully lobbied (intimidated) the psychiatric profession to remove homosexuality from the list of mental disorders in the 1960s. However, it was still impractical to house practicing homosexuals with straight men, just as it is impractical to house men with women. It is also impractical to house homosexual men with each-other under military circumstances. The Clinton administration came up with an ingenious solution to this conundrum. It was the DADT policy.
If DADT is repealed, the military will be forced to make special accommodations for homosexual men. That is the conundrum. That is also exactly what gay activists want. Gay activists are always seeking special accommodations. Under DADT they were treated equally. If DADT is repealed, they must be treated specially.
If DADT is repealed, gay activists will not be satisfied. They will seek all kinds of anti-bullying rules, sensitivity training, special counselors, rules that allow cross-dressing and using the wrong restrooms just like they do now in public schools.
Gay activists are not interested in equality. DADT provides equality. Repealing DADT requires special treatment and special accommodations for gays. If you don't believe me, just wait and see what happens if DADT is repealed.
If DADT is repealed, gay activists will begin by systematically bringing complaints of bullying and harassment, just like they did in the public schools. This will result in special counselors and special sensitivity training classes. There will be new special rules that affect all soldiers. For example, patting a comrade on his butt will become a crime. Using the word "fag" will be grounds for a dishonorable discharge. This will all be an enormous distraction from the military's prime objective which is winning wars.
If homosexuality is nobodies business, then the repeal of DADT should eliminate homosexual issues from the military. However, this is not what gay activists want. They want to shove homosexual behavior in our faces. They want everyone to know about their sexuality.
I guarantee that if DADT is repealed, homosexual issues will be brought to the forefront in the military, just as it has been in Massachusetts schools where marriage has been redefined to include homosexuals.
The military will be so overwhelmed by accommodating gay activists, that it will distract them from their primary purpose which is winning wars by killing our enemies and destroying things.

Post a CommentGary I agree that there are some Gays that like to be obnoxious and throw up their orientation to put on a show. However, most Gays are not like that they are productive contributing citizens and have made the world a better place to live. I have seen some Heterosexuals be just or even more obnoxious as those Gays.
Rey, Women ARE currently discriminated against in the military. They are not allowed to serve in many combat roles and in close quarters with men. Also, overweight people and people with other physical and mental flaws are rejected from today's military. Gays cant be compared to Blacks and Hispanics because race is an innate characteristic. On the other hand, homosexuality is a behavior. I agree that there are many fine and talented gay Americans that can be an asset to our military. They are free to serve under DADT. However, if they put their "open gayness" above their dedication to their country, perhaps they will not be an asset to the military after all. Gay ACTIVISTS like to raise a ruckus and push their agenda through intimidation, demonetization and "in your face" stunts. I am afraid the repeal of DADT will give them the opportunity to disrupt the military just as they have disrupted school curriculums, and gay pride events with depravity.
I think you way off the mark with your comments. There are a lot of Gay and Lesbian citizens who are fine patriotic Americans. These people are not interested in sexual behavior with fellow soldiers just want to serve their country. Any inappropriate behavior will be handled by the military in the same manner that it is handled currently in the Military. To deny our country of the talents and knowledge that these fine Americans possess and can provide our country through service in the Military would be the same as discriminating against blacks, women, hispanics and other worthy classes of Americans. I think you will see that there will be no or little change in the way our military functions as a result of this repeal. Give these fine citizens a chance.
Gary, I with you dude. Our military works because of a tradition of discipline and rules. I get so sick of all these entertainer types and office smucks saying they work with gays dudes every day and it's no problem.
They don't have to shower with their co-workers. It's very unlikele they will ever get a co-worker's blood on them. When they go on business trips, they sure as hell don't have to share a hotel room. Military is different. You don't have the freedom to say I want a private room/shower. Tell you what, why don't we trade places. I'll sit in your shiny office tower with a bunch of gay dudes, and you go off and fight a war. (I promise, I won't be trying to send you any gay dudes to help out.)
