in questions of why,
as thought renders me speechless,
a tear falls, yet a smile in the cry.
Remembering our closeness as we laughed and danced,
spent in so much fun,
girls night out,
tanning in bikinis beneath the summer sun.
In all of your struggles,
your strength maintains,
and I admire that in you,
though I know in my heart the truth of your pains.
I play a song for you,
with a more upbeat sound
and the dance fast and vibrant,
where the dance floor we owned, where so many would surround.
The fun we had,
that brought them all up from there seat.
The men we turned away,
in search of a slow pace, couldn't keep up to our beat.
Keep that pace dear mother of mine,
remember the fun, my joking, there with you.
I'll be there soon to spread some smiles.
Maybe we can go out dancing too!
We'll forget all the questions of life.
We won't ask "Why?"
We'll live for the moment
or at least give it a try.

Post a CommentWhat a lovely ode to your mother! It reminds me of a poem I wrote the day before my mom passed away. That was nine years ago now but the sentiment is still with me. Thanks for sharing yours with all of us.
Yes April, may her health stay as strong as her heart! This is lovely and that photo is priceless.
