Don't Bring Me Flowers

Audrey Star Josefek
Don't bring me flowers, cause I really can't accept them
If you gave me love poems, know I've never kept them
This crazy tide we swim in is alwaze flowing elsewhere
I cannot bear to sing a song that shows that you care

Don't bring me flowers, cause I really cannot hold them
And all those priceless trinkets-know that I have sold them
Like a love-stricken phantom that comes into my play
I cannot bear to keep & love the words you say

Don't bring me flowers, cause I really wish you wouldn't
I didn't hold dear the sonnets because I merely couldn't
The colors of the flowers would only hold a curse
I cannot bear to make this funeral any worse

Don't bring me flowers, cause I really hate to see them
I threw out memories so we'll never again be them
Love so broken & lost it can't be fixed or found
I cannot bear to whisper for whispers are a sweet sound

Don't bring me flowers, cause I know none of this is real
I want the past gone cause the future's one I can't feel
Not matter how we read them, the lines never get said
I cannot bear to have to kill what's already dead

If I'm brought no flowers, I can't make the huge mistake
Of throwing out love you give, of alwaze letting you take
I cannot be in a broken-hearted sonnet I would write
I will not bear my soul only to have to flee or fight

So no, I want no flowers--a dream or a reality
Keep the things away so they're not destroyed indefinitely
I may love roses, but I'll have to leave them be
I will not bear to have this merely a fantasy

Don't bring me flowers, cause you know I'll not accept them
Write me no love poems so I won't say I've not kept them
This game we play is never going to be won
I will not sin a song I'll wish could never be done.
