Much like prospecting in jewelcrafting, milling is the best way to go when it comes to making gold with Inscription. Inks and pigments retained from Northrend herbs sell VERY well.

They are constantly in high demand and can bring in massive amounts of gold. Almost every size bag will consistantly sell for profit, with 22 slotters typically having the highest profit margin.

The biggest sellers and biggest gold makers are Spellthreads:

Sapphire Spellthreads - Spell Damage leg enchant. Required to be exalted with the Kirin' tor.

Brilliant Spellthreads - Healing leg enchant. Required to be exalted with Argent Crusade. - Spell Damage leg enchant. Required to be exalted with the Kirin' tor.

Northrend Cloth Scavenging is the greatest passive gold making talent in the World of Warcraft. When you run instances you can get about 5-7 pieces of cloth per mob. This means you will typically leave each instance profiting around 50 to 100 gold even 150 on a good day depending on the rate at which cloth is selling.

Another great profession is Jewelcrafting. Jewelcrafting equals GOLD! GOLD! GOLD! This profession warrants HUGE and consistant profits and it is very, very simple to make gold with jewelcrafting.

Prospecting:
Saronite and Thorium are the most profitable ores, they have the highest percent chance to drop rares from prospecting. This can make you hundreds to thousands of gold per day depending on how much you work.: The best way to make gold with JC hands down. You can profit on anything from mithril prospecting to saronite prospecting. You can consistantly make gold by buying ore off of the AH and prospecting it for rare gems. This process can get repetitive but it is very easy and profitable. Use Auctioneer addon to find the cheapest available ore on the AH to prospect.

Another rule of thumb to jewelcrafting is to not sell your green gems. They don't sell very well on the AH and sell for little to nothing to a vendor. Instead, use Gem Perfection and if you get lucky you will get much better gems out of the deal.

These are just a few ways to make gold on World of Warcraft. Of course, there are other professions that will certainly make gold, however, these are some of the best. Don't buy gold for World of Warcraft or any other game for that matter; a little time investment upfront will warrant massive amounts of gold in the future.
