In January of every year start saving money and keep it with you in your purse or wallet. It can be anywhere from $2 to $20 every week. Next to the money keep a list of names of the people you have to buy for. After a few weeks you will start accumulating enough money to start buying presents now. In the spring and summer there are more sales and deals that you don't find towards the Christmas season.
Christmas and the normal "after thanksgiving day sales" are the biggest retail days of the year. Stores make a large percent of their annual profit during this time because everyone is buying presents all at once. They can increase prices and know that people will stay pay for their products. Shopping earlier in the year lets you save on money and not have to be a part of that noisy Christmas shopping crowd.
Another money saving tip is to save up one year and go without any new Christmas decorations. This means that if you don't have it already you don't get it at the store. Put that money aside and wait for the after Christmas sales. You will also find that many of the gift baskets and other Christmas gifts are marked down as well. If these items will store well stock up on them now. No one will ever no if was bought a year before.
The Christmas decorations are normally marked at least 50% to 75% off at stores like Wal-mart. You can get all that you need for the next year for only a quarter of the price. Wal-Mart and Target always mark down there Christmas wreathes, ornaments, stockings, lights, yard displays and Christmas tree accessories. The Christmas cards, wrapping paper, bows, scotch take, ribbons and boxes will be on sale as well.
Don't forget to keep receipts of all your purchases. The person you bought the gift for might decide they want something else. If possible return the gift and use the money to get something else. If you can't return it try switching the gifts on your list around to make everyone happy. Good Luck on getting your Christmas presents.
