Once in awhile, we find ourselves sitting down in deep thought, pondering on unusual questions which seldom cross our minds. One of such question is; "What is love"? Love indeed is a very abstract subject and its meaning varies from person to person. From mother child, from lover to lover, among friends, siblings and so on. But there's a quality in love which exist in all these types of love. They all should be based on trust and patience. For without these two elements, all will fall apart.

Many times, people fail to realize that love is truly a selfless gift which can be translated into joy and warmth for others. This in turn will flourish into a perpetual experience. When you truly experience love, the feeling is as beautiful as being in paradise. It captivates your soul and injects new strength and purpose into your life!

Besides being a gift to others, it can also act as a magnet in your life. Like a double edged sword. You will attract what you like or dislike if you love dwelling on certain thoughts. The more you focus your love on loving thoughts and happiness, the more life will pour them for you. The more you focus on the opposite, the more life will bring them to you as well.

Love is also a feeling of response we give to others when we receive a gracious treat from them. It's a quality that a person displays which makes you feel good and therefore you want to experience that feeling for as long and as many times as you can. It's our way of showing our appreciation. For example, a teacher who dedicates his time and effort helping his students with patience and trusts in their ability to improve and do well, will get the same appreciation and feedback from his students.

So now we have learnt so much about love, it is essential to dwell into the two elements which love is based upon. Patience and trust. Without these two, love falls apart. Without these two, there's no real love. A common case of trust is when your lover is out of reach for sometime, you will either feel concern or suspicion. If its concern, then congratulations, your love is true. If you feel suspicion, then you might as well forget it and move on. For true love is based on trust. Possessiveness and obsession will create suspicion. So you either love your lover, or are obsessed and try to possess him or her. The answer is simple. we have to be patient as all humans commit error and it is essential to give the other person space to recover and learn from their mistake. A lot of patience is needed for love to grow and strengthen.

Last but not least, before we set out to love someone, we should learn to love ourselves. If we do not at least love our own selves, then it is virtually impossible for others to love you. You need to realize that you deserve to be loved and that you are capable of loving!
