Don't Give Up

Susan Elliott
They may break your heart
tear you apart, and you,
you've done nothing.

They may hurt you
with vicious lies
manipulate you with
sugary hellos
endless goodbyes.

Don't let them control
you, have every power over
you, or break you apart.

Realize their only power
is what you give them.
It's internal, a battle
waged within your soul.
Don't give up.

You said this was written for a child...but after reading it I feel like it was also written for me. I was hurt by her vicious lies
    manipulated with her
sugary hellos ( and boy was she good at it) she broke my heart and
tore me apart, and I did NOTHING wrong!!! Well I have stopped letting her control me!! I have my life back and it feels nice!!

Thanks for such a great poem...and putting my thoughts into words!
    Hugs!
