Don't Just Throw it Away - FreeCycle It!

One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure!!

I'm sure almost everyone has heard of the ever growing www.FREECYCLE.org by now! If you haven't...read on!
The Freecycle Network is a nonprofit organization that allows the giving (and receiving) of free stuff in your very own town.

Do you have a DVD player that just stopped working? Don't throw it away! Offer it up to someone for free on Freecycle. There may just be someone in your town who is handy enough to get that thing working again! Would you rather it take up space in a landfill somewhere? Thus adding to never ending problems our world is experiencing? You must always remember, even if a product is not of use to you anymore, there is always someone out there in need!

Membership to Freecycle is absolutely free, and everything offered on the site is 100% free as well. Usually you will arrange to meet with whomever listed the item and pick it up at their home. Sometimes there are folks who are willing to meet you in a centralized location, but more often than not, you will pick it up yourself!

Say you just had a garage sale and you have a ton of things leftover. Now what do you do with all the leftover "junk"? You can offer your stuff up individually on Freecycle, or you can offer them up as a "must take all" and if someone doesn't need certain items you are offering you can encourage them to take what they'd like and Freecycle the rest. It's a nice happy cycle of sharing, not dumping. Instead of crowding our landfills with useful things, you can recycle them...Freecycle them.

If you are looking for a particular item, you can also post a "In Need Of" or "In Search Of" request on the site. All members can view your request and if someone has the item you're looking for, they will contact you for a pickup! It really is a quite handy organization!

Believe me, you can not imagine the things people post on Freecycle. From coupons to washing machines and pets to bags and bags of clothing...there is a very wide variety offered. Just remember that nothing on Freecycle is for resale. Freecycle was designed to help those in need and the greedy need not apply.

Simply head to the website www.freecycle.org and type in your city and state. It will populate a list of Freecycle communities nearest to you. Select which on you'd like and join! It's simple and best of all...it's Free!
