Don't Leave the Light On - Halloween Poem

Maria Grace
The chuckles get closer the leaves are crunching

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?

The footsteps are coming the staircase is creaking,

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?

The door rattles and the chanting has begun,

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?

They know I am here with no where to run,

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?

I open the door and I look in fear

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?

The ghosts, witches and goblins appear,

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?

They hold open their sacks demanding a treat,

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?

Only candy will purge these unholy beasts,

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?

They wont go away should I scream?

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?

The hidden human voices cry, "Happy Halloween!"

Oh why did I leave the porch light on?
