Don't Let Earth Day End

Mary Martin
Earth Day comes and then it goes

Through our calendar each year it flows.

This is a fact that most everyone knows.

Yet how can it be

We let this day flee

When all around the significance we see?

The air we breathe

The food upon which we feed

This earth provides all we need.

We bask in the sun upon the sand.

Upon the mountain top we stand

Observing all that is grand.

We bathe in the lakes

Collect leaves with rakes

While we enjoy all our good earth makes.

We till the ground

Spread seed all around

Awaiting the harvest that does abound.

We hike the trails

Stopping to view the snails

Delighting in nature that prevails.

The joys of earth are ours to share.

Let not this celebration rare

End on this day we pledge that we care.

Instead, indeed, don't let it end

But each day forward try to lend

A helping, caring hand our earth to mend.
