I told you that it was simple. But it makes you think. Why can't everyone just be nice? At what point in the history of the world did someone say "I want to promote hatred and see how far this will take us"? The sad reality is that the world will always be gripped with pain, destruction, murder, terrorism, and such because the world isn't a nice place. It is filled with selfish and corrupt people in power. It is filled with desperate poor people trying to feed their families. It is filled with people lusting after the things they don't have and don't want to work for. It is filled with sin for Satan is its ruler.
I started writing this article a few months ago, but for some reason couldn't finish it. While I was analyzing the things going on in the outside world, my inside world started to fall apart. Injustice surrounded me like a plague while the disease of crime took control of my family; God being my only support. Just this morning a member of my extended family, a sixteen year old boy, starred in the news headlines for shooting four other kids.
I have to ask myself, "What is wrong with our youth?"
With people like Madalyn Murray, who mercilessly advocated to get prayer out of the schools, and author of 'The Golden Compass' Phillip Pullman, who wants to kill God in children's minds, Christ and the good morals that He places in our hearts and the hearts of our children. Now that God has been removed from our school, people are wondering why kids are killing kids and the rash of violence, suicides, and dropouts that has happened since. If you choose to believe the power of God's presence or not you can't deny the facts. A source of morality has been taken from schools and hasn't been replaced with anything of substance as a crucial compass guiding the behavior of our children.
It is beyond belief that people like Madalyn Murray and Phillip Pullman would not only disrupt our children's minds, but to also deprive them of such a substantial example on how to treat others and themselves. I see neither of them advocating on how to stop our kids from bringing guns to schools.
The problem is that this country makes it easy to remove God and Jesus Christ out of everything. Freedom and liberation allows for other religions to be considered and respected while providing religious freedom to every other denomination without the same concerns and respect for Christianity. If a Muslim protests a Christ symbol in a public place it is instantly removed, but if the same thing is done to a Muslim then we are violating their rights. Where are the rights for Christianity? Do they have any or have our country become biased and hypocritical to the Christianity faith?
The American Atheist's website uses Jesus own words against Him by quoting a scripture from Matthew 5:5-6 and a reason that Jesus didn't want prayer in schools. First, the way they used it on their website is taken completely out of context. Jesus was speaking against hypocrites who say all the right things for the people's sake, but doesn't mean it in their hearts and lives a different lifestyle behind closed doors. He wasn't saying that people should pray in public because He also says that "where one or more people gather in my name, there is where I will be."
Secondly, how could a website for people who don't believe in God or Jesus use words from His book to remove him from schools? The fact that they would quote scripture to say that Jesus doesn't want our children to pray in schools is a mockery of Christianity and the very verse that they posted on their site.
Do I believe that we should force our children to pray? No, I don't; but I do believe that just as the ones that don't want to should be force to pray, the ones that does believe in God and wants to put him first in their lives, even at school, should be allowed to do so.
Not only do they want to remove God from schools, now they want to remove Him completely from children. The Golden Compass has generated plenty of talk and protest lately. The series of children's books author wants to kill God in the minds of children and even does so in one of his books where a girl and boy actually kills God. Now there is a motion picture being released based on that book and people are in an uproar with good reason. Why will this guy gain from killing God in the minds of children other than destruction, misery and turmoil? What would he benefit from continuing to see our children head down a downward spiral into depression and suicide? His motives are entirely selfish and based purely on his own atheist beliefs.

Post a CommentRight on! Wonderful article. I could not have written this article with the professional level you have done....not enough self control here.
Lara, I agree with you about free speech. People can choose to see whatever movie they want. As a Christian, it is my freedom to speak against The Golden Compass just as the author of that series felt it was his freedom to speak against the Narnia books because of their reference to God.
There is a difference between free speech rights and complaining about a movie that promotes atheism.
No, it was not right, but how is the Golden Compass actually harmful? It's not like there aren't thousands if not millions of Christian books out there. Do not make the mistake of thinking that freedom of speech applies only to people you agree with.
Lara, I am referring to children who have already developed those beliefs, but are stopped from expressing them because of the complete seperation of church and state. For example, a girl graduated from high school at the top of her class and was giving her valedictorian speech. She thanked Jesus Christ in her speech and was prohibited from getting her diploma until she apologized. In this case, is that right? Also, at the medical school I work for, students aren't allowed to put God or Jesus in their Dean's letter essays.
In my article, I stated that people shouldn't be forced to pray, but should religious people be forced not to? It's a little biased, don't you think?
Spiritual beliefs are a good thing, but children should be allowed to develop beliefs on their own when the time comes, not forced to stay in the system that their parents have chosen.
It is time for people like the above poster to stop worrying about children being exposed to people who think differently from them.
there are lots of reasons why "god" can not be in our schools. you may want to look into the Americans united for the separation of church and state -- they have great tips on how your child can keep their religion in their school -- without having to allow everyone elses, don't let the name fool it about it what it does
