Don't Throw Away that Can! Re-Use It

If your like me, when I need a measuring cup, and it's the one I need... you can't find it!

Here is a short list of some of the cans that you throw away everyday in the trash. Why not use some of those can's instead of throwing them out.

The frozen juice can, like OJ comes in.... those measure about ¾ cup.

The 8-oz fruit and veggie cans.....about 1 cup measure.

The 10 ½ oz condensed soup cans measure out about 1 ¼ cup.

The number 300 can, which is the 15 ½ oz size....measures about 1 ¾ cup.

The number 303 can which is the 1 pound-15 fl oz in size, measures to about 2 cups.

Number 2 can, 1 pound 4 oz in size is measured out to about 2 ½ cups.

These will do until your able to get a regular set of measuring cups.

Putt-Putt Golf

Take about 2 or 3 soup cans, rinsed out and dried, take the label off then dig holes in the backyard and place the can in the hole, open end up in different spots around the yard. And let the family play a little putt-putt golf.

The Stilt Classic

For this..... 2 or 4 small can per child.

Hammer and nail to punch holes in cans, and string.

For the kid's, punch small holes in the top of the cans, and run wire through them, to make a 2-can high stilt's. And string to reach to the child's hands to walk with. Most any sized can will work.

Quick Footrest

For this you will need: enough cans to make a circle with 1 in the middle.

Hammer and a nail to punch holes into the cans.

2 pieces of fabric to cover the cans

Stuffing material.... Needle and thread.

For a quick footrest, any sized can will work, punch little holes around the top of cans, place a piece of fabric over it, and trace or cut around cans. Then trace or cut around that piece, onto another piece of fabric, so you have 2 pieces of fabric. Sew the 2 pieces together except for one side, to add the stuffing, then sew that side closed. Place some wire through the cans to hold them together, then add the stuffed cushion you just made, and attach it to the cans by sewing through the holes.

Home-Made Lanterns

For this you need.... Any amount of small cans you need

Hammer and nail to poke holes around cans, paint for outside of cans.

A good sized pole and candle for each can you want to use.

Eating outside, got bugs and mosquitoes around? Take some medium sized cans, punch some holes around the sides, in designs if you wish, and paint them, Then find a good-sized pole to hammer the can onto. Then hammer the nail in the bottom of can to the pole, and place a candle in it, and you have a light to deter the bugs for the evening.
