Don't Throw Your Old Bathing Suits Away

Teresa (Tracey) Stanisha
Are you a beach lover? Are you using your bathing suits out and then, when they are worn you just pitch them in the garbage? That is what a lot of people do because they feel there is no use for them anymore. Well, there are other things that you can do with them, so let us explore some of the options below.

For a two piece bathing suit that is no longer able to wear in public, perhaps a little too worn, or if there is a hole in it, you can repair it and wear it as undergarments. Some bathing suits make excellent items for wearing underneath your other clothes, especially in the winter because they are heavier than other lingerie. Keep them in your drawer, so that when you don't feel like washing you can use them at times.

You can also take the clasps and the elastic bands off of them and use these for repairs for other items. You might also want to save some of the fabric that is reusable and make it into a doily or patch for other repairs for jeans and pants.

If you have children, your old bathing suits can be reinvented to fit a baby doll if you have a girl. This can make some cute items for your little one to use to put on her play toy.

For a one piece bathing suit you can cut the top and bottom off of it and create a really unique looking belt that can change the look of an outfit of yours. Make sure to hem both sides of it and then you just pull it down over your head and arrange it to look great and change the look of a dress or other outfit.

You can also make interesting hair bands from pieces of old bathing suits. Make sure that you wash the item cautiously and that you fit it properly to your head size. These can be very interesting pieces. Add flowers or old pieces of jewelry for a more elaborate look.

Any of the old fabric from bathing suits can be used for creative projects, too. You can cut small shapes out of them and use them for different pieces. You can use them for backgrounds in picture frames and different things like that. Most bathing suits are made out of sturdy fabrics and can be used for things like this. As always, make sure that you wash them properly before using them for other projects.

Remember, don't throw them away. If you think about some other ways that you can reuse them, consider adding your ideas in the comment section below. Bathing suits can be expensive, so when they wear out and you can't wear them on the beach, it is time to put them to other use and not to throw them out. There are many things that they can be used for. Keep them in a storage box or bin and then when you have the time, make something really unique out of them.
