Doodlebops on Playhouse Disney

What can I say about the Doddlebops. I can't stand the show, however my 2 year old son just discovered it and loves it. So needless to say, I have to watch it daily. When your little one comes up to you and says "Doodlebops", how can you say no. So now I am a "Doodlebop expert." Not a good thing. Here is the rundown of this show.

There are 3 main characters: Deedee Doodle, Moe Doodle, and Roonie Doodle. I have no idea if they are supposed to sister and brothers or just friends that play in a band. Whatever the case may be what freaks me out the most is the makeup. I don't understand why the costume has to include their faces to be totally covered in face paint. Deedee Doodle is a light purple(I think), Moe Doodle is yellow and Roonie Doodle is blue. Deedee Doodle wears a bright pink wig and her costume is of a piano since she plays the piano. Moe Doodle wears a bright orange wig and wears a costume reflecting the drums since he plays the drums. Roonie Doodle wears a blue wig that looks like the bottom of a mop and his costume has a guitar because he plays the guitar. Other characters on the show include: Bus driver Bob, Jazzmin their band manager, Mr. Moosehead, a puppet they go to advice for named Mudge and a DJ puppet in the recording studio.

Every episode starts with Deedee and Roonie coming through the doors singing. After they introduce themselves they turn and wait for Moe to come through the doors. He never does. He is always hiding so they have to find him. Once they find him they reintroduce themselves and sing the Doodlebop pledge. The pledge has to do with reciting how they are going to share and care. It gets quite boring since every show starts this way.

When I went on the Doodlebops.com website I found this to be very interesting This show is supposed to be preparing your little one foe school. I don't see it They are promoting logical thinking, critical thinking skills, social skills, and solving problems. The show includes music, singing, dancing, skits, rides on the bus, and a mini concert with the dance video of the day.

This show is intended for a younger audience ages ranging from 18 months all the way up to 5 years old. It is directed for both boys and girls. Their website is great. It has a link where you can play interactive games. You can join the fan club. You can find information about seeing the Doodlebops in concert on their live tours. You can listen to the songs and sing along with them because they supply the words. You can also find a scrapbook filled with pictures of where the Doodlbops have already toured. There is also a store you can purchase apparel, books, Cd's, DVD's, decoration for your home, party supplies and toys.

Overall I am not a fan but son really seems to enjoy watching it. I don't really like the fact they repeat the same skits over and over again. I am sure this is done for a reason for learning but I think it still needs to have a little more variety in it. The best part is when they take the bus to to the theater and give their mini concert. AT least then it is a different song for my son to listen to. The show is full of color and movement and I think that is what my son loves so much.
