Do-Over

One of Those Days

Susan Sosbe
I overslept;
the gremlins came
and shut off my alarm.
The cat threw up,
the dog took off,
he thinks he's on a farm.
The coffe pot is broken,
the hot water is all gone
and that's because
my son's been up
and showering since dawn.
My stockings have a runner,
my shoe has lost a heel.
Friday, lovely Friday...
Oh, you hold so much appeal.
My tank, it sits on empty.
I forgot to fill it up
and my driver side won't open,
for some reason it is stuck.
I've thought about a "do-over"
just like we had
from way back when,
but the kicker is
when I wake up
It will be today again.

I never thought of a do-over as a Groundhog Day event. For some reason I just assumed it would be a much better day, because I got to do it over. Great poem.
