Doppelgangers: Your Ghostly Body Double that Can Predict Your Coming Death

Have you ever blamed your evil twin on something you'd rather not fess up to? Have you ever had that eerie feeling that you have seen someone before, but it was in another city, state or country? You swear that the two people could be twins or you are positive that it has to be the same person because they share so many traits.

Creepier yet is when people complain about the way that you behaved at some function, family gathering or outing, but your positive that you never attended said function, and you comment in light that it must have been your evil twin. Well you just might not be far from the truth if you believe in such concepts.

Could it be your doppelganger is showing up and wreaking havoc on your otherwise seemingly normal life? These naughty evil twins or ghostly counterparts; or if you happen to be the evil one, "then your identical copy will be the nice guy", leaving people scratching their heads over what could be perceived as your very own split personality to anyone that finds doppelgangers a totally ludicrous possibility.

The theory of doppelgangers seems to have some basis and is a bit more then just a myth. The word doppelganger has been borrowed from the German language and has been incorporated into the English language. It simply means "double-walker", but it has also been described as seeing one's self without the benefit of using a reflecting device such as a mirror. Doppelgangers are not usually looked at favorably as they have been thought of as bad luck creatures due to the very nature of their meaning.

The remote possibility that someone can be seen at the same exact time in two very different locations without sharing a hereditary make-up is mortifying and downright creepy at best. However it is indeed mystifying to think that such things can happen in our universe, and according to the encyclopedia, if you come to meet your very own double it is a sure sign that your death is imminent.

Doppelgangers have even touched political figures like Abraham Lincoln. This occurred to the mild mannered President when he witnessed a double of his face in a mirror from across the room on the evening of his election, and it has been incorporated into stories by famous writers like Edgar Allan Poe. His mini-story about" William Wilson", a protagonist of questionable morality is tormented by his doppelganger most persistently when his morals fail him.

Years of research and folklore have produced many ideas about the doppelganger theory, but in the rare instance of the projection of a body-double, a person can either spontaneously or willingly project his or her doppelganger to a remote location. This double is indistinguishable from the real person and can interact with others just as the real person would. Biblocation can also lend to the theory of the body-double coming across as ghostly or a more physical form or state.

According to the legend surrounding doppelgangers, some monks and Christian saints who were known to meditate religiously became adapt at bilocation. Saint Anthony of Padua, Saint Ambrose of Milan, Saint Severus of Ravenna and Padre Pio of Italy. In 1774 the Catholic Bishop Saint Alphonsus Maria de'Ligouri was seen by witnesses at the bedside of the dying Pope Clement XIV, when in fact he was physically confined to his cell in a location that was a four-day journey away.

Monstropedia Encyclopedia reports that Shahar Arzy and colleagues at the University Hospital in Geneva, Switzerland unexpectedly reproduced an effect strongly reminiscent of the doppelganger phenomenon through the electromagnetic stimulation of a patient's brain. The experiment took place in September of 2006, and they concluded that the phenomenon they created is often found in certain mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia. This is even more apparent when it is accompanied by paranoia or delusions of persecution and of alien control.

History, Famous People and Doppelgangers

Sister Mary of Jesus often fell into a trancelike state to which events happened that she would later recall in great detail as that of being in a far away distant land and teaching the gospel. She always claimed that these people from foreign lands understood her simply because God let them understand each other. Sister Mary has been seen my many people all over the world in what soon became familiar to people as biblocation. The beautiful lady has appeared in front of many people at the same time in different locations dressed in a blue garment, from what they referred to as the heights or heavenward.

Queen Elizabeth I reported to her confidants that she saw herself lying very still and looking rather sickly while attempting to rest. Soon after the reported incident she passed on.

The evil self appointed Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia ordered her body double shot after witnessing it sitting on the royal throne. Soon after the incident in 1796 she died of natural causes.

While visiting Pisa, Italy, 29-year old English poet Percy Blythe Shelley met with a hooded doppelganger, who upon revealing his face said but two words: "Siete soddisfatto "Are you satisfied"?" Shelley would go on to drown in the Mediterranean shortly before his 30th birthday.
