A college student would be wise to purchase at least a half-dozen plastic storage boxes of varying sizes, each with it's own unique purpose. A large plastic storage box can be used as a cupboard of sort to store snacks, soda, beer (but don't tell your parents) and instant foods that do not require refrigeration. A plastic storage box used in this fashion also lets a college student know when the pantry is getting low and the time to restock is near.
Another excellent use for plastic storage boxes in a dorm room is to serve as a receptacle for clothing. T-shirts, shorts, undergarments, towels and other items that can be folded are stored quite nicely in this manner. An accompanying plastic storage box can be used as a hamper to hold dirty clothing, and it will also prevent odors from fouling the air in a confined space. Plastic storage boxes are very good at becoming a wonderful trash can, as the lid is air-tight and it can be large enough that trash can be taken out infrequently.
Plastic storage boxes used in a dorm room can neatly provide and conserve space in a limited area for a large collection of literary materials. Small electronic devices can be stored in plastic boxes, safely guarded from the horseplay of an average college dormitory.
Finally, plastic boxes used in a college dorm room can instantaneously become furniture where the situation calls for it. A sturdy plastic storage box can be a bench style seat when company comes calling, or serve duty as a night stand or even a study table when necessary. Pairs of plastic storage boxes with a wooden board between them and stacked makes for an extremely strong bookcase. The possibilities for using plastic storage boxes in a dorm room are limited only by imagination, and this article only scratches the surface of potential usage.
