Do's and Don'ts with Google Adsense

J.R. Mathis
Google's Adsense advertising network is a great way for website owners to make some extra money, but it's important to know how and how not to use their network. Google is very strict about the integrity of its advertisements, and failure to follow the rules can lead to your Adsense account being deleted, and it is very difficult, if not impossible, to get another one.

DO read everything you can about Adsense. Read other people's blogs and other resources about the program. Learn everything you can, and make sure not to repeat other people's mistakes.

DO read Google's Terms of Service and Program Policies before using Adsense. Make sure you fully understand what Google expects from its publishers so that you don't risk losing your account.

DO optimize your website for maximum Adsense earnings. This includes placing no more than three ad units per page, and put them in a location that will be unobtrusive to the user, but in the proper place for maximum click potential.

DO visit other sites that use Adsense, and see how they are doing it. Learning from others who are profiting from Adsense can turn out to be very profitable for you, as well.

Now, there are a few things you should be sure not to do!

DON'T worry about the difficulty. Adsense may be a bit overwhelming at first, but if you continue to learn, you will find a way to succeed.

DON'T ever click your own ads. Google has very sophisticated ways of detecting self-clicks and will immediately terminate your account.

DON'T
expect to make a fortune with Adsense when you first get started. You need a large amount of traffic before you will start seeing good results.

Follow these tips (especially the one about learning everything you can), and you will start earning money with Google Adsense!
