While residents were complaining about the many issues brought up by this bike lane, the Department of Transportation (DOT) was collecting data on the path's usage. DOT released a report on October 19 on how the path has effectively calmed traffic.
The report shows that cycling has tripled during the week and doubled on weekends. Cyclists have significantly stopped riding on sidewalks and drivers are actually slowing down. Now only 1 out of every 7 drivers speeds compared to 3 out of 4, according to DOT.
