Doubleheader Monday

James R. Ford
I have walked these city streets
for blocks and blocks
some of the buildings are over a hundred years old
I pass by them without a stare
I walk across bridges that cross rivers
to look down at the boats,
barges, and replica steam ships
Breakfast is sometimes on the other side

I walk these downtown streets
sometimes with a destination
until my feet become sore.
some ask for money
to buy gasoline, or food
sometimes coffee

the ballpark rises on the other side of the river
today there is a doubleheader
and many fans are crossing the bridge
to watch two games on one day
with clouds overhead
and ballpark food permeating
the noontime air.

The imagery is so vivid! The essence touched me. Loved this one James.

We have a minor league stadium in our town, and I like watching my local team when I have a chance to...great work...I can almost smell the hot dogs and roasted peanuts.
