I bought the version for medium skin tones, and could not wait to get started building a healthy summer glow. Dove Energy Glow is intended to even out your natural skin tone and gradually turn into a natural looking fake tan. Dove Energy Glow has a light color to it, it smells very pretty and fragrant and it is very easy to use.
You apply Dove Energy Glow as you would any other body lotion. It is important to apply Dove Energy Glow when you are not wearing any clothes as this lotion can stain most garments. That fact left me wondering how it would gradually turn my pale winter skin into a healthy summer glow. If it will stain your hands and clothes, the results cannot be that gradual. It is also extremely important to wash your hands after application, and to wait until the lotion is completely dry before dressing.
After my first application of Dove Energy Glow, I noticed my skin had a strange orange tint to it. There is no gradual building of a summer glow, at least not in my case. I am not one to give up easily, so I continued using Dove Energy Glow for 4 days until I finally decided this is not the gradual tanner for me.
Despite the fact that I immediately washed my hands thoroughly after applying Dove Energy Glow moisturizer, my hands retained some of the lotion and appeared very yellow in hue.
Maybe my skin is different from the majority of others. This daily moisturizer with subtle self tanners made me look worse than I did with pale and pasty winter skin. In my opinion, Dove Energy Glow is not worth the price and it is not effective in the ways I hoped it would be. If I wanted to appear orange, I would buy this product made by Dove again. That is not the case however.
I will not purchase this product again. I would encourage others to begin using it in a spot that is not often seen by others for a few days to determine what effect it will have on your skin. This bit of precaution can save you some embarrassment.
