Dove Video Evolution Changes the Way People Look at Tech Altered Beauty

Self Esteem Campaign Shows the Technology Behind Beauty

KRM
Dove's campaign for real beauty, which is actually a program geared to help women with self esteem, has currently hit a nerve with their video, "Evolution." Like the "True Colors" commercial released by Dove to show young girls and their self-esteem issues, the Dove "Evolution" video is captivating and yet surprising. In the video, they show a model with absolutely no beauty products on her face, and then they bring up the light, where you can visibly see every flaw in her face. Then, the video goes into a high speed mode as makeup and hair artists work diligently to perfect her. But that isn't enough.

Soon, the Dove "Evolution" model's photograph is subjected to a Photoshop session where her neck is lengthened, eyebrows moved, and other features changed. The Dove website goes further to say that 90% of all women worldwide want to change at least one thing about how they look, 67% don't participate in certain activities because of how they look, and only 61% of adults and 69% say their mothers had a positive influence on their self-esteem. Something has got to change.

I think all women need to see it and share it with their daughters.

That evolution video is amazing! It's like she's not even the same person after all that makeup and photoshoping. I don't feel so bad now.
