Down at Butch's Pond

I got a call from Marty

'Bout half past noon

He said he's goin' fishin'

And he's goin' real soon

The catfish are bitin'

They're bitin' real good

Down at Butch's pond

Away out in the woods

We loaded up the pickup

We had our poles and bait

We drove real fast to Butch's pond

We really couldn't wait

The catfish are bitin'

They're bitin' real good

Down at Butch's pond

Away out in the woods

Marty got the first bite

And then I got two more

And after just a little while

He caught him number four

The catfish are bitin'

They're bitin' real good

Down at Butch's pond

Away out in the woods

It wasn't even dark yet

Our limit had been filled

Twenty pounds of catfish

Our mamas would be thrilled

The catfish are bitin'

They're bitin' real good

Down at Butch's pond

Away out in the woods

I went to get the stringer

To take our catfish home

But all the catfish, they was gone

The knot had come undone.

I sat and looked at Marty

"I thought you tied it good." "Me too."

And then he shook his head and laughed

And we knew what to do. See,

The catfish are bitin'

They're bitin' real good

Down at Butch's pond

Away out in the woods.
