Downloading Free PSP Games - is it Worth Your Time?

Free is undoubtedly one of the greatest words in the English language. But its meaning in the age of the Internet has been muddled somewhat. As it applies to browsing for and downloading "free" PSP games, Webster's Dictionary should change the word to "free but with a catch."

A seemingly endless amount of web sites offer free PSP games, but you must exercise some care before proceeding with any downloads. Otherwise, you'll likely suffer a severe case of buyer's remorse. There are way too many scammers in cyberspace who are looking for ways to plant spyware or viruses on your desktop. None of us wants to have deal with a Trojan horse virus or other malignant bug, which can sneak up on you when downloading. Many sites offering free PSP games do a good job of securing their database, but nevertheless you need to be particularly cautious. Remember, if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is.

Even if your PC has screaming fast speed, that won't do you any good if the URL you're downloading games from has the server speed of a snail. The days of waiting all night for a file transfer to complete are long gone. Before you start always check the download speed of the site you're on. You'll thank yourself later.

One pitfall that is difficult to avoid, at least initially, when you find a site offering free PSP games, is whether it is has a chronic problem with choppy links or files that just simply won't work. HTML and Javascript coding require a sure hand and some sites may have a less experienced webmaster handling downloads. Few things are as annoying as spending time downloading a file only to find that it won't open properly. If you should come across a site with this problem, try to notify the site's administrator of the issue. And if the problem persists, avoid that site like the plague. Move onto another site.

A common practice on most websites that offer free content is to ramp up the number of ads and pop-up banners that populate the site. This is no less true for sites supplying free PSP games. Let's face it, the owners of the site have to pay their bills somehow. And so, to keep the game downloads free, they throw a never-ending stream of ads at you. Besides the obviously annoying aspect of this habit, the major downside is that these ad-driven downloads may be infected with a virus that will slow down the performance of your desktop. Hopefully whatever virus detection software you have will eradicate any bugs that crop up. If only Symantec and Norton could do something about pop-up banners!

There are many sites offering free PSP games that are completely unclogged of any these nasty problems. While not hard to find, they also are usually the ones that will nickel and dime you for everything you download from their site. These sites will find a way to separate you from your hard-earned money, whether it is the enticement of a free trial period, the need to register for membership on the site, or any number of other methods. Don't fall into this trap!

You have to put in due diligence when searching the Internet for free PSP games. To the victors will most certainly come the spoils.
