Getting songs out of the computer and into this tiny device that is supposed to hold up to 7 or more hours of music was totally beyond my comprehension.
Still, several weeks after I gave away my last MP3 I went out and purchased the newest model. I would get a few songs in my playlist and then not be able to figure out how to get them transferred to the dumb piece of technology in my hand. I was the only person in town still carrying my music around on a discman in a fanny pack.
And don't think younger people didn't take every opportunity to make of me and my fanny pack, either. Because they did. Often. No wonder I hated going out for my morning jog. I was an anachronism.
I'm going to attempt to help you avoid the humiliation and shame that I had to endure because of being 20 years behind the twenty-first century in the method I used to carry my music around.
Fear not, for you too can bring your music into the present era. Just follow my instructions below.
You Will Need:
One Ipod
One USB Cable
One Computer
One installed copy of apple ITunes from which to purchase music (www.apple.com/itunes/)
A Brain Or Half A Brain At Least
First go to www.apple.com/ipod and find your IPod. Mine is pink. Yours can be any color of the rainbow. You can order it right there online or check out the inventory at the nearest Circuit City, Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc. You will have many models to chose from but try not to take forever. The store closes at ten, for pete's sake.
Once you have your IPod, go the heck home and get started.
Your iPod should come with a USB cable. If not, go back to Circuit City and buy one.
Connect your IPod to your computer via he USB cable which is inserted into the appropriate ports on you IPod and your computer.
Open iTunes and browse for music you like. Purchase your tunes for .99 each. Your tunes will store themselves in a music library.
Put your tunes in a playlist by dropping and dragging in to the proper list (it will be visible on your screen and all you have to do it the d & d) which will ready your downloading session.
Sync to Ipod. (this will be a menu option at the top of the screen, just click) When finished, disengage the USB cable from your iPod and computer. Stick your ear buds in your ears, turn your IPod ON and go outside to make fun of all the fanny pack wearing grandmas as you bop your way to wherever it is that you iPod bearing folks are going with your ears plugged up and your faces pierced and your hair dyed ghastly colors.
I have all of Bon Jovi's best music on my IPod along with some Poison and Motley Crew.
What? I told you I was behind the times. So, I'm still an anachronism. But at least I'm a stylish one now.
