Downtown 7 Eleven Opening This Week

History Being Made in Downtown Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs Downtown area is one of the most vibrant mid size cities in Colorado. There are numerous stores throughout the 9 or 10 block radius. Specialty stores, restaurants galore, banks and lots of other businesses have been the norm for many, many years. It seemed that the only kind of store lacking in this beautiful city was a convenience store.

If you worked downtown, you knew you had to bring items with you like soda, bottled water and other items normally sold in a corner store. I said many years ago, while working downtown, "Hey, a convenience store would make great money down here." So, finding out that now there will be one there is bittersweet. I should have borrowed the money and opened it myself. However, 7 Eleven has made a good move.

Regardless of the source, it was a great business decision and a great decision for downtown. Russ Mallery is the owner of the franchise for several stores in Colorado Springs. He saw the potential for a viable, much needed business and has probably increased his bottom line considerably.

The new 7 Eleven opened yesterday morning at 6 a.m. at the corner of Pikes Peak and Tejon St. and will operate on a normal 7 Eleven 24 hr schedule. It will sell the normal fare for 7 Eleven and will surely be a welcome site for the people who work in the area. Before, eating downtown, involved a restaurant meal. Now, with this addition, quick, easy, and cheap can get people, lunch on the run. It will also provide access to sodas and other commodities that makes this store so valuable in today's world.

With the opening happening this week, it will be just in time for the huge Festival of Lights parade that goes right past it. With thousands of parade goers, it will no doubt have a fantastic opening weekend. I see good things for the new addition to downtown businesses. Welcome to the local downtown area, 7 Eleven.
