For those unfamiliar with Michelin stars, think Zagat. The stars are a method of rating cuisine excellence. A Michelin star is like a sundae's cherry. It's the rarest, yet best part of the dessert. 1,900 restaurants receive one Michelin star each year throughout the entire world. Only 300 receive two stars. And the elusive three stars are awarded to a mere 71 restaurants across the globe each year. "Getting one, or one more, can create a legend..." purports Diner's Digest.
Today's potential legend is Chef César Ramirez. He was once the Executive Chef for the sophisticated restaurant Bouley in Tribecca. He moved on to create his palate pleasures at Bar Blanc in the West Village which is currently closed. Now, Ramirez shines in Brooklyn Fare's Kitchen with not one, but two, stars.
Upon notification of his honor, the Huffington Post reports Ramirez said, "I can't believe this, I mean, we're part of a grocery store in Brooklyn!"
That's 200 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn to be exact in case you're hungry.
Till next time, Downtown B.

From the skyscrapers of NYC, I face strength. From the people of NYC, I gain understanding. And from the heart of NYC, I feel inspiration. So, I tend to write about the city quite a bit. View profile
