The Fulton Mall attracts 100,000 shoppers per day, according to the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP). That's a lot of shoppers to please. Now, all of these shoppers will have a new choice, Filene's/Syms. It is moving into the mall, according to The Brooklyn Paper.

For all those used to the store being known simply as Filene's, the name change occurred because Syms bought Filene's out of bankruptcy in 2009 for $55 million, according to the NY Post. But don't worry, ladies, Filene's will still have its famous basement.

The DBP reports that Fulton Street is "in the midst of a $15 million transformation." This is part of the revitalization of downtown Brooklyn which hopes to draw tourists. Filene's is a perfect choice for this endeavor because it is recognized by people from far and wide.

The same is true of H&M and Aeropostale which are expected to open soon. Filene's/Syms is expected to open in early 2012, reports the Post. No opening dates, yet, for the other two stores.

Just think of all the opening sales. Keep checking back for more information so you don't miss any of them.

Till next time, Downtown B.

From the skyscrapers of NYC, I face strength. From the people of NYC, I gain understanding. And from the heart of NYC, I feel inspiration. So, I tend to write about the city quite a bit.  View profile
