Martha's Exchange is a brew-pub located in the heart of downtown Nashua, at 185 Main Street. Famous for its microbrews, happy hours (where you buy one beer at regular price from 4:00 P.M. through 6:00 P.M. and you get the second for a penny), its nightlife and its professional clientele, Martha's is the place for you to bring your family when they're visiting town.

The building that Martha's Exchange is located in has a long history. The interior of Martha's is very professionally done. There is room for seating for lunch and dinner, in full view of the brewing machinery that makes Martha's famous. The bar is located in the same area as the seating for dinner and lunch, but smoking is not permitted. The bar and eating areas are very, very clean. The interior is dimly lit during the evening hours, making it very difficult to see who you are with and what you are eating.

The prices are extremely affordable for the food that you get; it is the ideal place to eat, drink and party when one is on a budget. The food is adequate; there is nothing absolutely breathtaking on their menus but there is something for everyone, including the vegetarian in your family. Their brews are amazing. They make their own beer on location and I have yet to try one that I did not like. My favorites have included the Seasonal Pumpkin ale, the Pale Ale, the Volstead Ale and the Belgian Ale. They also have the regular bottles available.

The service is irregular at best, however. Oftentimes, we are there during their peak periods - lunch, happy hour and dinner. The servers, while friendly and generally competent, are often so busy and harried, that customers must flag them down in order to request additional items after the initial round of drinks and food has been purchased. However, the servers are polite, respectful and accurate in getting your orders, once you manage to get a hold of them.

On your way out, make sure to stop by Martha's Sweet Shoppe. The Sweets counter has an amazing selection of chocolates, nuts and other gifts and candies. There is something for every sweet tooth that one can imagine.

Martha's Exchange also has an active nightlife. On Friday and Saturday nights, the bar area becomes a club with a DJ and dancing. Attendance at this is also recommended as there is a good time to be had by all. Martha's also has a private room available for private functions.
