Downtrend in Sarah Palin Coverage Begins Today

Maybe?

In his Washington Post column for January 21, 2011 Dana Milbank declared February to be Sarah Palin free in his columns and invited others to follow suit. Milbank admits to having written about Palin in 42 columns since she was chosen as McCain's running mate, not to mention, to his embarrassment, the many times he wrote about her in blog posts and spoke about her on TV and radio appearances.

Enough is enough for Milbank, and his columns and any other forms of media to which he subscribes will be Palin-free all of February. Milbank admits that Palin's name is eminently bankable and knows his moratorium will be a hard sell, but calls upon such notables as Maureen Dowd, Keith Olbermann, and Rachel Maddow to join him in a month of silence on Sarah Palin.

The impact of Milbank's challenge will be interesting. Will it be notable or just a blip on the radar screen of journalistic life? Time will tell.
