Dr Brandt Microdermabrasion Scrub - Great Exfoliant Solution for Oily Flaky Acne Prone Skin
Have Oily Dull Skin that Seems to Never Feel Fresh or Fully Cleansed? This is Your Answer!
Now, on with my experience with the product...
I have oily break-out prone skin that often gets dry and flaky because of the salicylic acid products I must use to combat acne. I exfoliate daily, with the St Ives Apricot Scrub and then with a facewash/body glove. However, sometimes this is not enough & the dry flaky skin remains. This is when Dr Brandt Microderm Scrub comes to the rescue!
Once a week, after my usual evening cleansing routine to remove my makeup, I place a very small dab of the scrub onto both of my index fingers. I then "dot" it on to my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin and proceed to scrub in a counter-clockwise motion. I scrub each area for about 15 seconds before moving on to the next, and then go back over all areas for another 15 seconds each. This might be a bit much for super-sensitive skin, so test it out on your first run by only doing the first "15 second" rule step. My skin is pretty tolerant, so sometimes I even go for an additional 15 second scrub, especially on extra dry areas.
After the scrubbing is complete, rinse thoroughly with water while keeping your eyes tightly closed. This stuff is very grainy and painful to get in your eyes! My suggestion for rinsing is to put your hands under warm running water, and gradually rinse from your cheeks downward. Once that area is completely free from granules, use the same method to rinse your forehead, but whisking the water to each side of your face rather than downward. This will help prevent the product from going in your eyes. Once your skin feels rinsed, use your regular face cleanser for one last rinse to help purify pores and make sure all the granules are gone. Rub face dry with a soft towel to help remove the dead dry skin that was uprooted during the microderm process. You're now ready to either apply moisturizer, or an acne-fighting product. Your skin should feel extra soft and circulation should feel improved. Your face might be a little red after this process, but in a few minutes, this will go away.
Other helpful tips about this product:
The scrub contains magnesium oxide crystals that polish away dead skin cells, leaving skin radiant.
Tips: It is best-used in the evening or before bed, after which your skin will be makeup free. The suggested usage is once or twice a week. Since it sheds the outer-most layer of skin, your skin will be able to breathe and absorb oxygen, acne medication, and moisturizer better than before the treatment. Pores become blocked and inflamed when oxygen and acne treatments cannot get to them. Therefore, after removing the outermost surface of old skin by using this microderm treatment, you will see a reduction in breakouts and black-heads. I highly recommend using a very light oil-free moisturizer after the treatment, otherwise skin can feel dry and tight.
Although this product is pricey, a little goes a long way. It only takes about a pea-size amount to scrub your entire face. After spending so much on professional grade treatments that weren't too impressive, I have no qualms about purchasing Dr Brandt Microderm Scrub, and never want to be without it!
