Dr. Bronner's Magic Castile Soap in "Citrus Orange" Review

The Pen
Last spring I began to use Dr. Bronner's Magic Castile Soaps regularly. Instead of buying the regular size bottles though, I've opted for the travel size versions so that I can find my favorite fragrance. Thus far I've tried the peppermint and lavender varieties, and at the end of the summer I decided to try out the Citrus Orange soap.

Price of
Dr. Bronner's Citrus Orange Magic Castile Soap

The 2oz. travel size bottle costs $2.19 at Whole Foods, for some reason citrus orange is 20 cents more than the peppermint and lavender soaps, so I'm sure the full size bottle is a tad more expensive as well.

Ingredients in
Dr. Bronner's Citrus Orange Magic Castile Soap

It contains water, saponified organic coconut and organic olive oils (with retained glycerin), organic hemp oil, organic jojoba oil, organic orange oil, organic lemon oil, organic lime oil, citric acid, and vitamin E.

All of the ingredients are certified fair trade and the plastic bottles are made from 100% post consumer recycled plastic.

Texture of
Dr. Bronner's Citrus Orange Magic Castile Soap

The soap has a watery slippery texture that wouldn't seem like it would produce much lather, yet it a tiny drop produces a lot. Even after using it every day as a body wash and a facial cleanser the 2oz bottle has lasted over two months.

The lather it produces cleanses really well, but it's very gentle and moisturizing. It never leaves my skin feeling stripped or dry and it doesn't irritate my eczema. And it's amazing at keeping the skin on my face clear.

Scent of
Dr. Bronner's Citrus Orange Magic Castile Soap

When I first bought this soap the summer was winding down and I was so disappointed I hadn't tried it earlier because it's such a sunny scent that compliments the warm weather perfectly.

I can smell a bit of the orange oil, which smells a bit like an orange rind, but to me this magic soap smells mostly like a bowl of fresh cut lemons. It's refreshing and uplifting and it gives me a bit of energy when I use it first thing in the morning.

In the End...

I really love the Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap, but the Citrus Orange scent is my new favorite. Even still, it's a scent that I'll only use in the summer because it clashes with the cold wintery weather.

I'll probably go back to using the peppermint soap this winter, but I'm going to rotate it with a richer, creamier body wash, because even though Dr. Bronner's soaps are gentle and moisturizing, my skin prefers extra moisture when the weather gets brutally cold.

That said, I still give the Citrus Orange Magic Soap 4.5 out of 5 stars, it's great.
