Is Miley Cyrus in trouble?
"Her family's broken up in a very public way. She's had multiple stresses. Her career is changing. And now you're seeing behaviors that are what we as professionals look for as signs of mental health trouble. She's manifested them and we're aware of them, that's the most difficult part. When parents are aware of kids behaviors that are problematic, the actuality of what's going on is much, much worse," says Dr. Drew Pinsky. "It's the tip of the iceberg."
Britney Spears shocked us with her "...Baby One More Time" video in her naughty schoolgirl get-up, but Cyrus in black stilettos, black leather hotpants and black fishnet stockings is a far more shocking transformation from her "Hannah Montana" innocent. And later, after Britney got mega famous and made millions, we watched her publicly unravel, and it was uncomfortable.
According to Dr. Drew, the same sort of thing is going to happen to Cyrus unless her parents step in. What would he say to Cyrus if he were her dad? "If I were her dad, I would say, 'Listen honey. I'm scared for you. Let me get you some help.' And if she said no, I'd use every ounce of leverage I had."
It's what happened to Britney Spears. Her parents stepped in and now Britney is back. "It can be done and it does help," said Dr. Drew.
Yes, Dr. Drew is a medical professional, but is he overreacting?
Dr. Drew says Miley Cyrus is in trouble. But is she really? We've seen her smoking salvia in a video. However, lots of 18-year-old teenagers smoke and drink once-in-a-while. It doesn't mean that they're in trouble or ruining their lives.
With Miley, she says she's "embarrassed" by the video and is "trying to turn things around." Does that mean that it's not just an isolated, embarrassing incident and she really is in trouble?

The sad thing is if Billy Ray did get her help he would probably make it public (i.e. reality tv) just to benefit himself

Miley is embarressed a lot lately. It is time for her to realize that she is always in the public eye.
I don't think it's time for Dr. Drew to step in yet. She is a teenager.... a very famous one whose been surrounded by this for years. So far I think she has done pretty well
