Dr. Huxtable-The Best 80's Sitcom Dad

In the 80's, audiences fell in love with Dr. Huxtable, played by Bill Cosby, on the Cosby Show. Dr. Huxtable grew to be a character many audiences loved and respected. At times, Dr. Heathcliff "Cliff" Huxtable made audiences laugh with his humor, while at other times making them draw closer to his serious side throughout various episodes of the sitcom.

In the beginning of the show, during the opening song Dr. Huxtable proudly displays his favorite hobbies including listening to the Jazz music and tap dancing. Audiences would always catch Dr. Huxtable watching a football game on the couch in his living room, proudly rooting his favorite team on with his family and friends. Regardless of his personal interests, whenever there would be family matters or discussions Dr. Huxtable would always be there listening and giving funny comments to his children. Dr. Huxtable had even came to be known as the person who created the "Cosby" face. He would make this funny facial expression memorable when he would press his lips tightly together while his eyes rolled back. Either with his facial expressions or comments, he would make his family laugh, including his 5-year old granddaughter Olivia.

Dr. Huxtable was also there for his family in times of need. He adored and cared for his wife Phyllis and their 5 children: Sondra, Denise, Theo, Vanessa, and Rudy. In one episode, Mr. Fish, Dr. Huxtable helped Rudy overcome her grief by holding a funeral for "Lamont the Goldfish" before he flushed the fish in the toilet. On another episode, as a fill-in for the other doctor, Dr. Huxtable managed to help in the delivery of Vanessa's baby, while trying to deliver two other mothers' babies at the same time. During the event, Dr. Huxtable found ways to lighten the mood with jokes and laughter. Throughout these major events, Dr. Huxtable knew how to stay grounded and focused.

Throughout the show, Dr. Huxtable became a fixture on television as America's fun-loving father. He will always be remembered as a fun-loving and caring father who put his family first.
