Dr. Phil Interviews Ted Williams Girlfriend ~ Part 4
Dr. Phil Will Be Coaching This Man to Stay on the Straight and Narrow
Ted was on the phone from the Origins Rehab in Texas. He was sounding good, got glasses, had a thorough physical and he is doing well. He met a lot of great people there who care about his recovery. Due to confidentiality, he was not able to reveal certain facts about his treatment, but could reveal what he felt he wanted to. Dr. Phil stressed that he is a model for others who could be going through the same things he is experiencing.
Ted admitted that he did drink in Columbus. He now feels that he cannot drink anymore due to his rehabilitation. He has had a conscious awareness of God. He did not feel that he was drunk in Columbus; just a celebratory tipsiness from champagne. He did admit he did do pot and another drug, which most likely was crack. He said he wanted to have a last fling knowing full well that he was going to rehab.
Dr. Phil reiterated that he must be honest with himself. He went into a long diatribe about how glad he was to get this rehab and the more he talked the less credible he started sounding to me. But then, I have never dealt with someone with such problems. But he has been caught in several lies since Dr. Phil has offered him help.
They rehashed the incident with his family and the hotel room Grey Goose incident. His ex-wife Patricia and daughter Julia were interviewed. They have complete faith in his recovery and talked to him on the phone. He has been given a good bill of health and gained some weight from the good food he has been eating. Now there is a conflict in Ted's family because Janey acted like it was Desmond and Julia's fault about the vodka. Ted then corroborated the story that they did not specifically get the vodka for Ted. Ted stated that he believes alcoholism may be hereditary in this case. But Dr. Phil feels that his family truly loves him and so do his children.
Ted's girlfriend Kathy is on the show today and his family agrees that she is not a good influence on Ted's sobriety. Ted knows that his family does not like her and he admitted that his family is right about her influencing him to drink and do drugs.
Ted feels that he cannot be alone. He meditated at the beach yesterday and felt that it was the closest he has ever been to God. Ted described how being addicted to crack can be like. How he feared not getting the next "blast" more than anything.
His ex-wife and daughter decided to stay during the interview with Kathy because they have met several times and have no ill feelings towards her. Kathy admitted that she was in love with Ted and they have been together for seventeen years. She prostituted herself to earn money for their habits. She feels that "they" have a second chance because of his notoriety. She said that she would not change a thing if the outcome was to lose Ted to his sudden fame and she is more than willing to go back into her life the way it was; good, bad, right or wrong if this is what the outcome would be.
Tomorrow will be the rest of the interview, and I will be reporting on it.

Post a CommentIt shows how tough to get back to a life of normalcy; easy to slip into an abyss. These have lessons for us all, especially the young. Great reporting, Diane but I do miss your poems! Don't stress yourself to publish one a day! cheers - siva
What a sad statement of life. To believe in God is to place Him above all others. Let us pray that they both come to understand this before it becomes too late for either.
I haven't watched Dr Phil lately. Good article.
interesting; thanks
I hope the rehab sticks for him but it seems he is doing it to please everyone else, and not because he himself was ready, that could go against him, also if his girlfriend is drinking and taking drugs it is not good for him to be with her. Hopefully Dr. Phill will put her in rehab too, if they are both in recovery it will help them, I believe.
I'm staying away from this one. Dr. Phil should not have brought this man on national television.
I hope he is able to find happiness and health...! Great article Nana!
Excellent.... :o)
I hate to say it, but this is going to end badly.
didn't see it, but it sounds interesting
